Scoil Phádraig, Corduff played Clontibret in this year’s Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 11-a-side Division 3 final in Castleblayney last Saturday. Scoil Phádraig defeated Lisdoonan, Doohamlet, Mullaghrafferty and Latton to reach this year’s final. It was a great day for our school and club as we were victorious on the day. This is the first cup back in the school since our win in the Division 4 final in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol boys’ competition in 2018. We would like to thank Scoil Mhúire, Clontibret for a very enjoyable and exciting game of football.
The game was played in tough conditions, but this did not stop both sides digging deep and scoring some fine points and goals. The boys played their hearts out and Scoil Phádraig put in an excellent and strong performance in both halves. All their hard work and dedication from training with Noel over the last number of weeks paid off. It was a real team performance from this 18 boys panel from 5th and 6th class. The supporters from Corduff really spurred these young boys on throughout the game. The Scoil Phádraig boys were thrilled with the result and honoured to receive the Ollie O Rourke cup and medals from Monaghan senior player, Gary Mohan.
We would like to thank Allianz and Cumann na mBunscol for organising and hosting these games for the young boys and girls in our primary schools. We look forward to participating in more competitions and blitzes throughout the year. Thank you to all the committee in Cumann na mBunscol Muineacháin for organising the finals day for our schools.
