We will concentrate on the New Primary Language Curriculum as part of the SSE process. The new primary language curriculum for English and Irish has been developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and has been fully introduced in all primary schools in Ireland. This new curriculum applies in all school contexts – English-medium schools, Gaeltacht schools, Irish-medium schools and special schools.
Assessment of learning and for learning is also a focus in all classrooms in Scoil Phádraig. Assessment methods used include self-assessment, conferencing, portfolio assessment, concept mapping, questioning, teacher observations, teacher designed tasks and tests and standardised tests.
In numeracy we will continue to focus on problem solving and mental maths skills. The process of SSE has shown improvements in all writing genres and problem-solving skills throughout the school.
We will be focusing on strategies and programmes to improve spelling in the school.
We will endeavour to make use of a range of methodologies during the SSE process which includes the use of ICT.
