Scoil Phádraig aims to encourage all pupils to participate in a range of sports for the purposes of enjoyment and recreation. At the same time, we enable those who wish to participate in inter-class, inter-school, local and county competitions to further these ambitions. P.E. is seen as a vital part of our curriculum here in Scoil Phádraig, and with the assistance of some external coaches we offer a wide and varied Physical Education programme to all our pupils.
Dance
Dance is an important aspect of the PE programme, with children being exposed to creative as well as folk dances. Many of the children enjoy learning Irish dances and groups of dancers represent the local GAA Club at the annual Junior Scór and in Fleadh Cheoil. The children also enjoy line dancing lessons from time to time under the instruction of Bernadette Byrne.
Athletics
Scoil Phádraig compete in The Peace Link in Clones for the annual Track and Field event. Pupils from 1st to 6th class represent the school in individual races and relays.
Soccer, Tennis, Basketball
The children enjoy other recreational sports throughout the year. They sometimes have the opportunity to play in small tennis and basketball tournaments against neighbouring schools. The senior classes also take part in FAI soccer tournaments throughout the year with great success.
